Endy Ekpanya Memorial Scholarship

Every year, the Pearland POA FOP Lodge 119 awards $500 to $1000 in scholarships in honor of three Pearland police officers who have died in the line of duty: Endy Ekpanya, James Cassidy Jr. , and Henry Wendell Jr.

Scholarship Application

The Pearland POA FOP Lodge 119 Scholarship was changed to the Endy Ekpanya Memorial Scholarship in 2016 after the death of Pearland Police Officer Endy Ekpanya on June 6, 2016. We award $500 and or $1000 scholarships at the direction of the scholarship committee. The scholarships are named for three Pearland police officers who have died in the line of duty, Endy Ekpanya, James Cassidy Jr. , and Henry Wendell Jr.

Scholarship Requirements

  1. Applicants must be one of the following and be under the age of 25:
  2. A graduate of a Pearland High School or a high school senior who is a resident of Pearland or a resident within the city of Pearland’s extraterritorial jurisdiction currently enrolled in an undergraduate criminal justice program at an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy.
  3. A dependent of a Pearland Police Department employee, who is a high school graduate enrolled in undergraduate studies in an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy or a high school senior enrolling in undergraduate studies in an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy. The dependent must live in Harris, Brazoria, Galveston or Fort Bend County.
  4. A member of Law Enforcement Explorer Post 237 currently enrolled in an undergraduate criminal justice program at an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy or who is a high school senior enrolling in an undergraduate criminal justice program in an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy.
  5. A member of the Pearland Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association who is in good standing, who is a high school graduate enrolled in an undergraduate criminal justice program at an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy or who is in good standing, who is a high school senior enrolling in an undergraduate criminal justice program at an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy.
  6. A dependent of a Pearland Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association member who is in good standing, who is a high school graduate enrolled in an undergraduate criminal justice program at an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy or who is in good standing, who is a high school senior enrolling in an undergraduate criminal justice program at an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy. The dependent must live in Harris, Brazoria, Galveston or Fort Bend County.
  7. A dependent of a city of Pearland employee, who is a high school graduate enrolled in an undergraduate criminal justice program at an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy or who is a high school senior enrolling in an undergraduate criminal justice program at an accredited college, university, or regional law enforcement academy. The dependent must live in Harris, Brazoria, Galveston or Fort Bend County.
